Vesak, full moon day which falls in the month of May is to commemorate the three great events in the life of the Buddha.
His Birth, Enlightenment and Parinibbana.
To Buddhists all over the world, this event is of utmost importance and significance. It was on this day more than 25 centuries ago that the Buddha was born in the Lumbini Park. It was also on this day that He gained Enlightenment. Under the Bodhi tree at Buddha-gaya. For forty-five years, He preached the Dhamma and showed all beings the path of the Middle Way. People from all walks of life came to hear Him and follow His great teachings. Buddha passed away on Vesak Full Moon Day under the two Sala trees at Kusinara, in India at the age of eighty.
